Shu-Stream Intermittent Disease Indication

The Ling Shu, chapter 44, states: "When the disease manifests intermittently, use the shu-stream points."
The classic intermittent disease is malaria which is a commonly found indication of most of the shu-stream points of the yin as well as of the yang channels. However, I suggest you rather leave this indication to the modern Western medicine.

Shu-Stream Yang Channel Indications

The shu-stream points as well as the ying-spring points of the yang channels have important actions on their respective channel.

Nan Jing, chapter 68 states: Shu-stream points are used for “feeling of heaviness and joint pain”. Beside the use as local points, these points can be used as distal points to clear wind, cold, and dampness from the respective channel.

GB44 - Seasonal Indication: Winter

At this juncture, pimarily HT9 (yin channel's jing-well point, noon-midnight connection) is the option. GB44 is second in the line.

In the Ling Shu you will find: "In winter use the jing-well points."
There is only a limited application of this rule in pathological conditions. However, for a preventive seasonal treatment it might be a good strategy.
